If you are looking to learn
to protect yourself, simple self defense
is a must. It is not just to make techniques
easy to remember but in a high stress situation
like that of being attacked, most people cannot carry out complex or fine motor skills. Your reaction must only consist of gross motor skills which are simple body movements that virtually all people are capable of performing.

Learn simple self defense techniques and practice them both physically and mentally. Go through different scenarios and practice your reaction.

If your response must be physical, use simple self defense techniques that consist of basic body movements. The more complex that your intended actions are, the less likely you are in being able to carry them out.

Simple self defense would include such techniques as open hand strikes, grabbing, tearing, fingers to the eyes, elbow strikes, head butt, knee strikes, stamping and simple kicks are all good options. Ensure you practice these simple self defense techniques, so that you know exactly what you are capable of doing.

If you are totally new to such simple self defense, the movements may feel a little awkward at first. Practicing and repeating will make them feel like second nature. Knowing that you can physically carry out such self defense techniques and knowing that you can make a difference in situations of uncertainty are great for boosting yourself confidence and self esteem.

Practice simple self defense techniques individually, so you can understand what exactly makes the strike effective. For example, the rotation of the hips , the rotation of the shoulders and striking through the target.

Practice simple self defense techniques in combinations. First practice slowly and then build up to high levels of intensity.

Practice slowly, when you have learned and have confidence, start reacting with more explosiveness. In a real situation it is that high intensity explosiveness and your hunger for survival that is really going to save you.

Take a sexual attack for example, he does not want to get hurt or identified in caught. When you react with sudden ferocity, there is a chance that he could get hurt, it is highly likely that you’ll end the situation right here and now.

A bully type of attacker, is not normally after a fight but a victim, so if you show in the first few seconds of a conflict that you’re going to put up a big fight, that is usually enough to stop the situation too.

Learning and using simple self defense techniques is what really gives you the additional confidence that will help prevent you from becoming an intended target in the first place.

We will be showing you some simple self defense techniques over a number of articles. However, our e book, “The essential elements of self defense” shows many simple, effective, step-by-step, self defense techniques that you can learn at home in your own time and at your own pace. Go To -
